Pharmacy Practice VI: Innovative Pharmacy Services and Strategies for Health Outcomes

This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess and implement pharmacy services in diverse practice settings with an emphasis on innovative and emerging strategies to improve health outcomes. Students will learn the components of creating an business plan for a new service and evaluate an existing clinical pharmacy service in this context. Students will evaluate the economic, clinical and humanistic outcomes of various service models. Contemporary strategies and services discussed will include the use of collaborative practice agreements, quality improvement, and the integration of technology in the medication use process including informatics, automation, and telepharmacy/telemedicine.
