Etiology Assessment and Treatment of Pain for the Health Care Professional

This course is designed on an interdisciplinary approach (pharmacy, nursing, physical therapy, physician's assistant and other health related professionals) for the assessment and management of pain. This course builds on previously learned knowledge of natural and human sciences, pharmacology, health assessment, conceptual foundations of practice, skills, and technologies required to practice professionally. Increasingly complex concepts related to pain management, the integrity of biological , psychosocial, spiritual, and environmental health are presented. Concepts of cultural care, therapeutic nutrition, ethics, critical thinking and professional practice will be integrated throughout the course. Previously learned and advanced concepts reflecting the uniqueness of a person's pain experience and health experience will be integrated to provide holistic care to adult clients experiencing acute/chronic illness.
