Catalog description
Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding is a first professional year course longitudinally and horizontally integrated with pharmaceutics, calculation and ABLE courses. It is designed to foster attainment of competency in the compounding practice elements of pharmacy. Students gain confidence and expertise in the delivery of patient care through compounding medications. Students will participate in real and simulated situations that require active engagement in the learning process through integrated labs with ABLE II. Utilizing dosage form foundations from PHCE 360 and 361 and calculation skills from PHPR 300, students apply knowledge, demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, demonstrate proficiency in fundamental skills including sterile and non-sterile compounding techniques and calculations for the provision of patient care.
