Epicurean Ethics

Catalog description

This course is a close examination of the ethical system of Epicurus, who claimed that pleasure is the highest good in life. Course texts will include primary works by Epicurus and his followers, as well as polemical works by Cicero, Plutarch, and others. It is strongly recommended that any students enrolling in this class have completed at least two Philosophy courses before it begins.
