At the completion of this course, the student should be proficient in the application of clinical pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics, and pharmaceutics principles to the pharmacotherapy of specific patients and patient populations. Topics will include application of pharmacokinetic concepts and principles to designing, formulating, and modifying individualized dosage regimens, describing monitoring parameters needed for clinical adjustments, evaluating the impact of disease states and drug interactions on pharmacokinetics and dosing, identifying the role of genetic factors in various treating and managing various disease states, formulating recommendations based on pharmacogenomics testing, identifying excipients that require patient-specific recommendations owing to pharmacological activity, identifying alternative therapies and formulations based on individual patient needs, and describing compounding procedures necessary for extemporaneous preparation of alternative formulations.
