Catalog description
This is an integrated course designed to further examine chemical, pharmacological, and therapeutic aspects employed in the treatment of hematological and neoplastic diseases that were introduced in PHBM 441. At the completion of this course, the student should be proficient in the application of pharmacotherapy to the disease states and clinical situations reviewed in this course. Furthermore, students should be able to utilize knowledge of pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, and pharmaceutics principles to improve patient outcomes associated with the disease states and clinical situations discussed in this course. Each learning outcome will be assessed using an assessment strategy appropriate to the level of learning. Teaching and learning methods will involve self-assessment of knowledge, active learning, case studies, group discussions and/or written papers to foster active, life-long learning.
