Deleuze?s 2-volume work, Cinema, develops philosophical concepts by exploring elements of filmmaking: for example, from montage and editing, Deleuze develops concepts of discontinuous perception; from close-ups, he develops concepts of body and affect, from plot and flashbacks, he develops concepts of action and time, and from the juxtaposition of video and audio he develops a concept of interrupted signs. We focus on Deleuze?s concept of time, which draws from Bergson. In addition to textual analysis and conceptual speculation, we watch and discuss a wide range of film clips.
