Advanced Notation

Catalog description

Students will explore and analyze advanced notation practices by studying advanced music notation, including orchestration, vertical intervallic structures, aleatory, & extended techniques. The course text will require the purchase of 5-7 scores that will serve as text which the class will study together. Students of this class will also have the opportunity to replicate, synthesize, and compose using the advanced notation techniques with notation software. Prerequisite: Composition IV
