Catalog description

This course addresses several more advanced concepts in tonal and post-tonal theory, including: symmetry, more complex harmonies, introduction to jazz form and harmony, post-tonal concepts up to trichords and interval vectors, introduction to Riemannian theory and analysis of classical, popular, and film musics. The capstone project is a video analysis of a student-chosen work that addresses form, harmonic and contrapuntal structure, and possibly genre, timbre and rhythm. Pre-requisite MUSC 201
