This course offers an introduction to the essential skills of audio production in the modern age. Inspired by the success of the generation of ?bedroom artists & producers,? DIY Music Production explores the methods of DIY artists making modern popular music with limited equipment and on a tight budget. Students will gain practical, hands-on experience working with microphones, MIDI, sampling, audio manipulation, and digital audio workstations (DAWs). As technology continually evolves, additional relevant topics may be included at the professor's discretion. Through in class assignments, homework, and projects, students will develop the basic skills required to operate a DAW and create music.
