Catalog description

Band Methods considers the development of elementary and middle school band programs. Organized around the broad areas of curriculum, pedagogy, repertoire, and administration, this course prepares students to successfully develop and refine young bands. Specific topics include program structure, curricular strands (with a focus on executive skills), student recruitment and retention, instrument selection and matching, step-by-step teaching in the beginning band, rehearsal planning and strategies, and comprehensive method books and other ensemble resources.
