Introduction to Music Education provides an orientation to music teaching and learning. Preceding the Music Education Methods sequence, this course looks broadly at the profession of music education. While the primary focus is a discussion and analysis of music education within the public school system, music education occurs in a variety of other contexts?including community music education programs, and non?traditional teaching and learning settings. The National Standards for Arts Education provide an orientation for the music education profession and a framework for class discussions. Students will also observe music education within different educational settings throughout the semester. Lecture. Offered fall only.
