Catalog description
This course provides medical students with a comprehensive understanding of the gastrointestinal (GI) system, emphasizing the integration of normal anatomy and physiology with the pathophysiology of prevalent GI disorders. Key topics include diagnostic imaging, gastrointestinal neoplasms, infectious diseases, and pharmacologic management relevant to the digestive tract. The course aims to strengthen clinical reasoning by focusing on the recognition of signs and symptoms, formulation of differential diagnoses, and selection of appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Upon completion, students will be better prepared to assess and manage common GI conditions in clinical practice.
