Clinical Skills I

The Clinical Skills curriculum is designed to prepare students to deliver excellent patient-centered care as future physicians. Through hands-on learning experiences, students develop the essential competencies required for the practice of medicine, including physical examination techniques, patient interviewing, procedural skills, and clinical reasoning. Clinical Skills I spans Blocks I and II and provides a progressive introduction to the knowledge, skills, and behaviors essential for patient-centered care. Block I focuses on patient-centered interviewing, communication skills, and medical history taking and documentation. In Block II, students build on these foundations through patient-centered physical examination techniques, including adaptations for patients with disabilities.
