Duquesne University · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
This is a course on modeling and design of machine elements such as bearings, springs, gears, and cams. Modeling and analysis of these elements is based upon application of physics, mathematics and core mechanical engineering principles. These principles are reinforced via hands-on activities and a design project wherein students model, design and prototype a mechanical system that is relevant to a real-world application. Use and interpretation of finite element analyses (FEA) is also introduced in this course.
