English Language Arts/Reading Practicum

Catalog description

Candidates will spend a minimum of 50 hours in a 7th or 8th grade English Language Arts/Reading classroom learning effective pedagogy, pedagogical content knowledge, formal and informal assessment skills, and classroom management related to ELA/Reading. In addition to the field placement, students will take part in a weekly seminar. Seminar provides opportunities for teacher candidates to engage in discussion and reflection on their classroom experiences. These experiences are designed to foster personal and professional growth in preparation for student teaching.
