Foundations of Classroom Assessment for Middle Level and Secondary Certification

Catalog description

This course covers the foundations of classroom assessment for middle level and secondary certification. Measurement and assessment topics include ethics; reliability and validity; preliminary, formative, benchmark, authentic, summative, diagnostic, screening, and standardized assessments. Students will practice aligning instructional and assessment plans, designing and using multiple assessment strategies, interpreting assessment results, and using assessment to guide instruction. Students will also register in a Stage 2 Field Placement with the expectation of observing classroom assessment practices in action.
