Introduction to Critical Education

Catalog description

This course orients students to developing a critical knowledge of the social, historical, and political contexts that reveal the uneven foundations of how the field of education came to be in U.S. society. Students will critically examine the historical and present day contexts of education, situated within broader institutional, power-relations in society. Ultimately, the course prepares students as global citizens, who view education as a transformative, political act, to create a more just society.
