Catalog description

This course is designed for teacher candidates to process the student teaching experience as they explore various aspects of the classroom and school culture including school context, the learning environment, pedagogy, and classroom management. Additionally, this course requires teacher candidates to understand and value the importance and complex characteristics of children?s families and the communities in which they live. Candidates will involve families in their child?s development and learning through designing, planning and implementing various activities/strategies that engage families in meaningful ways, and by connecting their students/families with community resources, resulting in respectful, reciprocal relationships that support and empower all students. Additionally, as part of the capstone, the candidates will prepare their Showcase Portfolios and complete their Exit Interview as a requirement of the student teaching experience
