Math Pedagogy in Upper Elementary School

Catalog description

This course engages PreK-4 teaching candidates in an investigation of the content and processes of teaching and learning mathematics in grades 3-6, including (1) an examination of the role of the teacher, students, curriculum, and content pertaining to the teaching and learning of mathematics in grades 3-6, and (2) an exploration of diversity, technology, assessment, and leadership in the teaching and learning of mathematics in grades 3-6. In addition to meeting the mathematics standards in the PDE Teacher Preparation Framework for PreK-4, this course will support candidates to pursue their grades 5-6 add-on certificate in mathematics.
