Catalog description
This practicum is a blend of university-based classroom instruction and field experience in an elementary school setting, grades K-4. In the Level 3 Practicum and Seminar in Science and Social Studies, teacher candidates work in classrooms alongside expert teachers to teach individuals, small groups, and/or whole classes. The focus is on instructional planning, instructional practice, and formative evaluation in the areas of science and social studies. Candidates demonstrate their professional and content area knowledge, skills, dispositions in the classroom. The course is framed by Pennsylvania state and national professional standards, the Themes and Domains of the Leading Teacher Program and the particular expertise of the faculty. Students will reflect on content and pedagogy knowledge in relation to the practicum. "
