Formerly: HEALTH LAW REGULATION AND TRANSACTIONS Enrollment Limit: 10 Fulfills Concentration Elective: Government & Public Interest Law, Health Law & Science. This course introduces students to many of the primary statutes and regulations affecting hospitals, physicians, and other entities and individuals that provide health care. Topics include facility and professional licensure; credentialing and peer review, the Stark law, the Anti-kickback Law, the False Claims Act, patient privacy, access to emergency services, and substitute decision-making. The course focuses on the regulatory and sub-regulatory guidance issued by government agencies that oversee health care. Students gain experience finding and interpreting such sources by completing short research assignments throughout the term. Students also gain experience reviewing and proposing revisions to contracts that raise various regulatory issues
