Elective Course Enrollment Limit: 25 Course Requirement: paper May fulfill Upper Level Writing- limited to first four students who request it Fulfills Current Concentration Elective: Government and Public Interest- Basic Government Track, Government and Public Interest- Mission and Moral Life Track The focus of this course will be on barriers to the participation of women as equals in our educational, legal and political institutions, in the world of work and in the family. The course will review and apply feminist legal theories to examine the root causes of issues that primarily impact women in our society, and our legal system?s efforts to address them. Topics include Violence against Women, Human Trafficking of Women and Young Girls, Women and Reproductive Rights, Women and Wage Labor, Women and Education, Women and the Legal Profession, and the Intersection of Race and Gender.
