Catalog description

Elective Course Course Requirement: exam or paper This course will provide an overview of the major environmental statutes and programs, both federal and state, that impact the environment, the regulated community, and citizens and residents. Statues covered will include, but not be limited to, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Superfund, and the Resource Conservation & Recovery Act, along with PA state analogue statutes. In addition to providing a substantive introduction and overview of these statutes and programs, each class will incorporate a ?hypothetical client problem? with a practical skills component. Students will consider and complete tasks based on real scenarios related to, among other things: a) the permitting approval and compliance; b) violations and enforcement; c) the regulatory rulemaking process; and d) clean-up and remediation.
