Cybercrimes and Espionage

Elective Course Course Requirement: exam Cybercrimes and Espionage will analyze the investigation and prosecution of cyber and national security crimes. Cybercrimes include computer intrusions (?hacking?) and exfiltration, identity theft, privacy violations and ?doxing.? Cybercrimes also encompass those offenses that are cyber-enabled, such as cyberstalking, true threats, sexual exploitation, and illicit online marketplaces. This course will critically examine federal laws that criminalize espionage and the misuse or dissemination of protected national security information, including by claimed ?whistleblowers.? Case studies will focus upon domestic and international radicalization and terrorism, mass casualty acts of violence and the deployment of electronic surveillance, including the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, Section 702 coverage and Title III wiretap authority. The subject matter of this course requires the review and discussion of graphic evidence and violence in the context of terrorism, cyberstalking, child exploitation and threats.
