We will study federal and common law regulation of food, with an emphasis on environmental implication of the current food production system, and cutting-edge policy issues like intensive farming, food safety, biopiracy and genetic modification. Although the primary focus will be on domestic law, we will contextualize food trade, patenting and regulation internationally. Students will be graded based on a take-home project and present their research on a topic of their choosing to the class. There are no prerequisites for this course.
