Elective Course Course Requirement: midterm exam and final project This course aims to provide business lawyers trained in the U.S. legal system with the tools necessary to assist their clients doing business abroad with efficient dispute resolution mechanisms. In today?s connected world of commerce, international commercial arbitration is the means of dispute resolution most accepted worldwide. Thus, this course will discuss the nature and key features of international arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution methods (ADR), types of arbitration: institutional and ad-hoc, the arbitration agreement, jurisdiction, duties and powers of arbitrators, applicable laws, commencement and conducting of the arbitral proceedings, and the rendering of the award, including recognition, challenge and enforcement of arbitral awards.
