Elective Course Satisfies Experiential Learning requirement This course is focused on developing contracts and project management skills for lawyers who need to provide legal support to large construction projects. Large construction and engineering companies require legal support especially during the execution of large projects. This kind of support cannot be provided effectively unless the lawyer is part of the project management team since the start of the project. The underlying issues are technical in nature and the facts finding process may be quite complicated unless the lawyer is constantly kept abreast on the evolution of the project. The course is aimed to provide to the student the basic knowledge and skills in project and contracts management to provide legal support at the time of the bid of the project and negotiation of the contract; thereafter, all throughout the execution of the project and finally during the closeout of the project. The course provides simulation materials and scenarios of these three project?s phases: a) bid/negotiation/award of the contract; b) project execution; c) closeout of the project and resolution of pending legal/contract issues.
