Elective Course Course Requirement: exam This course is on the intellectual property right called copyrights. Copyrights protect literary and artistic expressions. This includes books, music, movies, sculptures, paintings, and many other artistic expressions. The course will involve socio-economic and political implications of copyrights and the effect of copyright law on national and international culture. While most of the discussion will revolve around case law, the statutory sources of copyright law will also be discussed including the US Constitutions "IP Clause" and the copyright act. Passing references will be made to other types of intellectual property rights including trade secrets, patents, and trademarks. However, the focus in this course is an in-depth analysis of the rules covering literary and artistic expressions.
