Catalog description

Study Abroad- China Course Requirement: exam This course will introduce students to the revelations of post-conviction DNA exonerations in the US and China and how our respective criminal justice communities are attempting to reform our criminal justice institutions and practices in their wake. While the US had its first post-conviction DNA exoneration in 1987, our Chinese counterparts have only recently encountered their wrongful convictions "awakenings." Guest lectures will be delivered by partners from the faculty of BUCT and Xihua Universities who will provide comparative perspectives on how China's criminal justice community, and the Chinese courts in particular, are attempting to introduce related, if not similar innocence reforms.
