Required for LL.M. students and exchange students Course Requirement: exam This 2-credit, required course for all LL.M. for Foreign Lawyer students and exchange students is offered in the fall semester each year. The contents of the course includes: history and the government structure, legal methodology, the adversary system and the jury trials, the legal profession, the judicial system and all major areas of American law including administrative law, constitutional law, civil and criminal procedures, contracts, tort law, property law, criminal law, tax law, family law, etc. The text book for the course is: William Burnham, Introduction to the Law and Legal System of the United States, (5th ed. 2011). Students will be assigned reading before class. The classes are conducted by the Socratic Method. Students will be asked to compare the American legal system and the legal systems of their own countries. Attendance is mandatory.
