Information systems are the foundation of modern business, driving how organizations operate, compete, innovate, and create value in an increasingly digital and AI-enabled economy. This course introduces you to the critical role information systems play in areas such as accounting, finance, marketing, operations, and supply chain management, while exploring how businesses use technology, data analytics, automation, and artificial intelligence to improve decision making, increase efficiency, enhance customer experiences, and gain competitive advantage. You will also develop applied AI skills for research, communication, problem solving, content generation, data interpretation, and business analysis, while learning principles of prompt design, responsible AI use, and human oversight in AI-assisted work. Through hands-on activities and business-focused applications, the course explores careers in Information Systems and Technology (IST) and builds practical technology skills that support personal, academic, and professional success.
