The Jewish Experience in America is an examination of the religious, ethnic, cultural transformations of the Jewish people in America. The focus is on the late nineteenth century during the great wave of immigration from Eastern Europe and Russia as well as the changing forms of antisemitism, how Judaism changed in a new environment, the mutual impact of Jews and American popular culture, the evolving relationship between Jews and African Americans, the impact of the Zionist movement on Jews in America as well as the importance of the Holocaust for post World War 11 identity.
