Political and Economic Geography

Catalog description

This course utilizes theoretical and case study approaches for understanding how geography impacts global politics and economics. The course incorporates classical and contemporary geopolitical theories to study interactions between and among people and places, with an eye to appreciating both the enduring influence of (physical) geographical elements on global politics and economies, as well as the limitations of the same in a globalized world in which non-state actors, advances in technology, and complex political, economic and cultural interdependencies continually challenge straightforward calculations of state power and strategic advantage.
