Global Feminist Voices in International Relations

Catalog description

This course examines how feminism is conceptualized and manifest across different sociocultural contexts, and how these impact on the livelihoods, aspirations and experiences of women across the globe. Utilizing a case study approach, the course brings to attention nuances in how women?s rights are understood, framed, and practiced transnationally, and the ways in which influential female figures and women?s movements have impacted on politics at home and abroad in a way that is intended to interrogate the utility of contemporary (Western) feminist ideologies for successfully diagnosing the root causes of gender inequalities and successfully addressing them.
