Catalog description
This course is intended to introduce International Relations (IR) and International Security Studies (ISS) students to the fundamental logistics of careers in IR and ISS generally, and the IR program at Duquesne University (DU) specifically. It will cover professional and academic elements, review internship processes, and introduce study abroad and career options available via DU. Students will meet with representatives from the university?s Career Center, which will provide them with career relevant resources and will partake in the course?s skills section. The course will also feature an Invited Speaker component, in which speakers from relevant career fields will be invited to share relevant insights and career tips. Students graduating from this course will have basic career-related skills (such as resume-building, successful interview skills etc.), as well as a sound knowledge of the career options available to them upon graduating from the program.
