Health in Action: A MEDLIFE Service-Learning Journey in Peru

Catalog description

This immersive, experiential study abroad course takes students to Lima and Cusco, Peru, for a service-learning journey in partnership with MEDLIFE (Medicine, Education, and Development for Low-Income Families Everywhere). Students will explore the intersection of traditional and modern healthcare systems, participate in mobile medical clinics, and support community development projects in urban and rural settings. Through active engagement with local practitioners and communities, students will critically examine healthcare access, the burden of disease, and the social determinants of health in Peru. The program blends cultural immersion, physical engagement, and reflective learning to provide a transformative global health experience.
