Catalog description

This course covers the process of developing strength and conditioning programs that support the performance needs of athletes in individual, small-group, and team settings. Primary topics include training adaptations, exercise techniques, coaching strategies, and the implementation of various training methods into annual training plans. Secondary topics include performance testing and analysis, sport psychology, performance-enhancing substances, facility design, and legal considerations in strength and conditioning. This course will prepare students to take the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam offered by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
