Catalog description

This course prepares students to understand the physiological changes in the body when encountering the stress of exercise and physical activity. Emphasis will be placed on interpreting graphs and other data representations to understand acute and chronic responses of cells, systems, and the whole body to varying types of exercise. This course requires the synthesis of lecture material into written form to discuss training and performance adaptations to general, vigorous forms of physical activity. Exercise will also be discussed in relation to environmental stresses, population disparities, disease states, and athletic performances. Students must enroll concurrently in HLTS 408L. Lecture. Writing Enrichment. Offered fall and spring.
