"This course provides a comprehensive range of healthcare cost accounting tools and techniques to improve value-based purchasing competencies and decision-making skills. Students learn through case studies how to forecast future costs and related revenues in a variety of organizational settings, including managed care organizations, medical groups, community hospitals, and integrated delivery systems. The aim is to provide the cost management tools and techniques to improve efficiency (cost per unit) and effectiveness (goal achievement). Course takeaways are about cost analysis techniques that can be used by healthcare managers to improve organizational performance, both in the short and long- term. * For those that want to prepare for the Healthcare Managerial Accounting course and have not completed a financial accounting course in the past 10 years, please consider obtaining and completing Breitner & Anthony?s Essentials of Accounting 11th Edition, a self-study guide to prepare you for the course.
