Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states or events in specified populations, and the application of this study to the control of health problems. It is one of the fundamental sciences of Public Health and provides the basis for much of what we know about health and disease. This course focuses on the role and use of epidemiologic tools in the field of health care administration. HADM 411 is intended to acquaint students with the concepts, methods, and techniques of managerial epidemiology. During the course, understanding of principles of epidemiology, research design, and use of data for management of population health will be emphasized. Assignments prioritize student?s comprehension of the material and ability to apply learned concepts to practical scenarios, including subsets of populations.
