Catalog description

This course focuses on the economic concepts which are applicable in healthcare systems, settings, and interactions. Fundamental economic concepts such as demand and supply are customized in the context of healthcare by focusing on individual patient (consumer) behavior and healthcare provider and delivery organizations decisions. Effective and efficient use of limited resources in the national and organizational level is the leading theme of this course. Concepts such as moral hazard, information asymmetry, agency relationship, and supplier induced demand, which are more common in healthcare markets than main stream markets, will also be discussed.
