Catalog description
In this introductory course, students will learn and apply basic tenets of research methods in public health and health administration. This course will focus on forming a proper research question, conceptualizing a research study, operationalizing variables, identifying data sources, and understanding different data collection methods. Additionally, different quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpretation approaches will be discussed. Through the mix of texts, articles and course work, students will build skills for understanding how research is developed and communicated in the scientific literature. Students will apply and synthesize this knowledge through various in-class assignments.
