Catalog description

Everyone assumes that science and religion, especially Catholicism, are incompatible. But how do they know? This class explores historical and contemporary controversies between the physical sciences and the Catholic faith, exposes the myth of constant conflict, and charts ways forward in theology-science dialogue. Explore the Galileo affair, Darwinian evolution, Big Bang and Multiverse cosmology, potential extraterrestrial intelligence, AI/machine learning, miracles and the scientific method, seeing how they interact with the Catholic faith and what they can tell us about God.
