Catalog description
This seminar is a synthesis of concepts of philosophy, theory, and research used in the development and testing of nursing knowledge. In this course, emphasis is placed on the study of how knowledge is acquired. Various forms of knowing on which nursing practice is based are explored. Students are guided to consider the philosophic assumptions upon which specific theories are based and how the nature of the research problem and theory guides the choice of research method. Students are also guided in the process of a critical review and synthesis of scientific knowledge related to their topic of interest.
