Catalog description

This course will focus on the theoretical foundations of health behavior and health promotion as a basis for nursing research. Content addresses the theory and principles of how health behavior patterns of individuals, families and communities are acquired, maintained and changed. Emphasis is placed on analysis, critique, and synthesis of interdisciplinary literature in health promotion and its application to nursing and public health practice, future research and scholarly inquiry, and multi-level policies, necessary to reduce disparities. This course builds on content from prior theory and research methods courses and contributes new substantive content in research applications of theories and relevant research methodologies.
