Forensic Clinical, Residency and Capstone
Duquesne University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course is offered as 2 credit didactic and 1 credit clinical. Participants will negotiate a learning contract based on core nursing competencies and apply these skills during a supervised on-campus residency, self-identified structured clinical placement and/or specialized educational training program. This is designed to facilitate the identification, justification, and application of a specific forensic nursing role aligned with individual professional goals. The curriculum requires students to evaluate the strengths and challenges of their chosen role and ascertain collaborative opportunities to improve population health. A primary component of the course is the completion of an evidence-based culminating project addressing a critical forensic nursing practice issue or patient-focused problem.
