Catalog description

This course examines the critical intersection of advanced practice forensic nursing and the United States legal system. Students will analyze the historical foundations and guiding principles of federal and state jurisdictions to better navigate the complexities of the judicial process. Emphasis is placed on mastering Advance Practice competencies required for expert testimony, victim advocacy, and the rigorous evaluation of evidence collection and preservation across diverse clinical and field settings. Participants will engage in high-level analysis of the challenges to clinical judgment and moral agency that arise when healthcare mandates meet legal requirements, preparing them to serve as ethical leaders and authoritative voices at the cross-section of medicine and the law.
