This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) level course explores the essential components of Nursing Professional Development (NPD) with a focus on the NPD certification process and strategies for fostering nurse faculty wellness and self-care. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the critical domains of NPD practice, educational theories, and the educational process concerning standards, leadership, ethical and legal considerations, evidence-based practice and research, technology integration, and program/project management. Emphasis will be placed on preparing nurse leaders to promote ongoing professional growth, enhance educational practices and interdisciplinary collaboration, and support faculty wellness, ensuring sustainable career satisfaction and effectiveness. In addition to these core competencies, the course will include a special focus on nurse faculty wellness and self-care, emphasizing strategies to prevent burnout, managing stress, and maintaining healthy professional boundaries. Through reflective practice and wellness models, students will be equipped to support their own well-being and that of their colleagues in the demanding field of nursing education.
