Catalog description

This course focuses on the application of the major theories and concepts of mental health counseling as they relate to the provision of treatment with a variety of specific issues, populations, and contemporary concerns within a community-based setting. Emphasis is placed on model application, techniques, professional issues, and the development of advanced conceptualization skills. Exploration of systems issues, collaborative concerns, and interdisciplinary treatment, as well as administration, finance, and accountability are explored. Consideration is given to legal, ethical, and cultural implications. Resources for seeking and obtaining employment in the profession are discussed.
